GENDER EQUALITY AND GOVERNANCE

ABC-Development, through grant support from the Irish Aid and Trócaire Fund, continues to strengthen the advocacy efforts of women and young women’s governance networks in Kambia District. As part of this ongoing support, the networks convened a roundtable stakeholder engagement on 22 August 2026, bringing together representatives of political parties, the Ministry of Gender, the Sierra Leone Police, traditional leaders, and other district and chiefdom stakeholders to discuss

ABC-Development, in collaboration with partners WESOFOD and KADDRO, conducted a joint monitoring visit to communities in Mathuraneh, Kamaranka, Maselleh, Banka, and Matemie as part of ongoing monitoring and accountability activities under the ICSP/MASIDAMA Project.

The activity was implemented as part of the USAID-supported Strengthening Peace Infrastructure and Accountability through Community-led Peacebuilding and Empowerment of Women and Youth as Leaders in Sierra Leone (P2P) project. The training reached 300 participants, comprising 190 women and 110 men, including youth and persons with disabilities.

ABC-Development, through the Supporting Gender Equality and Social Accountability through a Strengthened Civil Society project, supported by the European Union through Trocaire, convened a district-level dialogue engagement with duty bearers and community stakeholders to discuss key service delivery issues affecting women and communities across Kambia District.

ABC-Development convened a quarterly district-level dialogue engagement bringing together duty bearers, councillors, women’s networks, community stakeholders and other relevant actors to discuss key issues affecting women and service delivery across Kambia District.

ABC-Development conducted a capacity-building training for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), women’s networks, Community of Practice representatives and media representatives on data collection, people-to-people awareness raising, community scorecards and other social accountability tools.

ABC-Development conducted a two-day capacity-building training for newly elected councillors on anti-corruption policies, best practices, reporting processes and referral pathways.

ABC-Development conducted a community-level engagement focused on the production and use of quarterly community scorecards, bringing together community stakeholders, councillors, young women in governance networks and youth leaders. The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs has commended ABC-Development for its contribution to women’s empowerment, leadership development and community transformation in Kambia District.
